Located 450m above sea level the village of the Luberon Natural Park has 944 inhabitants.
The presence of man in Beaumont is attested since prehistoric times.
In the medieval Ages,this prosperous village was crossed by a very frequented way and sheltered more than 1,000 inhabitants: One of the bigggest concentrations of population for period!
Beaumont-de-Pertuis was hit by five earthquakes since 1509, the most violent in 1812 (magnitude 7 to 8) left cracks still visible on public monuments such as the Church of St. Jean Baptiste.
Going up to the chapel Sainte Croix you can enjoy a magnificent view of the mountain of Sainte Victoire, Luberon and Lure Mountain.
